You need to be safe at your workplace when it comes to handling and working with asbestos – both indoors and outdoors!

Coming into effect on 1st January 2025, companies must now be authorized to demolish asbestos-containing material.

On 1st January 2025, new and stricter rules came into force for asbestos-related work. These regulations are introduced to protect both workers and the surrounding environment from the serious health hazards of asbestos.

The most important changes are:

  • Authorization requirement: From 2025, companies must hold a special authorization to carry out asbestos removal. This ensures that the work is performed by qualified personnel and with the right safety measures.
  • Stricter requirements for protective equipment: Higher standards will apply to the protective equipment used in asbestos work. This includes both personal protective equipment (PPE) and technical measures to minimize the spread of asbestos fibers.
  • Increased focus on containment and sealing: To protect the surroundings from asbestos dust, greater emphasis must be placed on effective containment and sealing of work areas.
  • Stronger control and supervision: The Danish Working Environment Authority will carry out stricter inspections of companies working with asbestos to ensure compliance with the new rules.

What do these rules mean?

  • If you work with asbestos, you must make sure your employer has the necessary authorization, and that you receive proper training and protective equipment.
  • If you are a building owner or carrying out renovations, you must ensure that the companies you hire hold the required authorization and comply with the new rules.
