Safety helmets when maximum protection is required
It is absolutely crucial for your safety, that your head is protected with the right safety helmet for the job. Using the wrong or a damaged helmet carries a high risk of serious injury when working with asbestos.
We have gathered a wide selection of helmets suited for this type of work, so you can be confident in your protection while on the job.
When should a safety helmet be used?
A safety helmet must be used if the work cannot otherwise be carried out safely. In other words, safety helmets must always be worn when working or staying in areas where there is a risk of head injury – regardless of how it might occur.
There are four main risk areas where safety helmets are required:
- Materials, tools, or other objects with a risk of tipping or falling
- Protruding objects, or heavy materials or equipment that hang or swing
- Uninsulated electrical wires
- Confined spaces that make it difficult to move without bumping into obstacles
There are many types of safety helmets because not all types of work are the same. Every task requires the most suitable protective equipment.
Do you use safety glasses and hearing protection?
If, in addition to your safety helmet, you also need safety glasses or hearing protection, it is both easier and more comfortable to find a solution that works together / is integrated and fits properly.
It is not only illegal, but also completely unsafe and irresponsible to modify your safety helmet yourself. You must not drill or cut holes in it, nor attach nameplates or stickers that have not been approved for that purpose by the manufacturer.
Most helmets have built-in options or compatible accessories that allow for adjustments. That is why it is important to know in advance what you will need before choosing a safety helmet for yourself and your employees.
We are happy to guide you on how hearing protection should be used.
Which safety helmet should I choose?
In most cases, the specific conditions at the workplace determine which helmet you need. The choice of safety helmet must be based on the risks associated with the task and the work environment.
According to the Danish Standard, both safety helmets and protective helmets are referred to as “industrial safety helmets.” They protect the head against falling objects and must withstand short-term exposure to flames. In the event that the chinstrap gets caught, it must be able to release automatically when subjected to a certain load.
When choosing a safety helmet, it is essential to base your decision on the specific job function – both the task and the workplace. Consider the helmet’s color, shape, and weight, and assess whether a chinstrap is necessary due to particular work positions or windy conditions.
If additional equipment such as a respirator, hearing protection, or safety glasses is required alongside the helmet, it must be compatible. Always use equipment that matches the safety helmet.
